(Bloomberg) -- Jefferies Financial Group Inc. is reshuffling the ranks of its emerging-markets division following a wave of high-profile departures, including some of its most senior traders, according to people familiar with the matter.
Jonathan Joseph, the co-head of emerging markets at the firm, has left after nearly a decade. His peer, managing director Adam Groothuis, was removed from his role as co-head of the desk, the people said, asking not to be identified discussing personnel information.
Paul Abitbol was named the firm’s global head of emerging-markets trading, based in London, according to an internal memo seen by Bloomberg News.
A representative for Jefferies and Groothuis declined to comment, while Joseph and Abitbol couldn’t be reached.
The moves follow a string of changes to the team, which were first reported by Bloomberg News. Those included the departure of star trader Justin Weinberg to rival Deutsche Bank AG.
London-based bond trader Sam Loeffler and two people from the emerging-market sales team — Ryan Burke and Alex Atallah — also left to join the German bank.
